Call of God

Answering the call

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27

Ring ring!

Hello?

Hi, it’s me.

I’m sorry, who is this?

It’s me.

But who are you? Why do you have my number?

Because child, you’re mine.

I’m your child? But who ARE YOU?

That’s for you to discover.

We’ve all heard our phone ring, and we look to see if we recognize the caller. If we know them, their name and number will be in our contact list. There are times when our phone will ring, and it shows up as ‘unknown caller.’ When we do not know the caller, we’re hesitant to answer.

Here is a question to think about … Do we know our Saviour well enough that he is a “contact” in our heart?

When He calls us, will we hear it, and better yet, will we answer? Sometimes we can get so caught up in life, that we’re making our own noise and we can’t hear the voice of God, let alone the call of God. Perhaps we want to avoid the call, so we busy ourselves with life. Although we will try, we cannot avoid the One who created us; He loves us too much to leave us alone. He will leave voicemail after voicemail after voicemail. Eventually, He will move on and wait for you to call Him back.

I encourage you to customize His ringtone, make him a favourite contact, and above all, answer His call. He has a plan for your life, which is much greater than what we could plan for ourselves. When we can identify his voice, listen to what He has to say and obey His will, a relationship will be built with Him. A relationship that will stand the test of time. He will always be there, helping you, loving you, talking to you … if you have ears to hear.

Jeremiah 33:3 “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” ~ Jazmin Hallam
