FistOf course not, right? We all know that we can’t be angry at God. That would just be wrong and foolish. So then, what is that feeling that burns inside you when you feel like God has strong armed you and kept you in the fire of affliction for waaaaay longer than you feel is justifiable or necessary?

You still go through the motions of praising and worshiping Him, but do you still trust Him? Do you still look forward to talking with God in prayer or do you walk on the other side of the street when you see God coming your way?

You’re not bothered by any of that? Great! I have one more question for you that may help reveal any anger lurking in your spirit. If suddenly there was a power shift, you had God’s power, and His life was in your hands, what would you do? If something even as small as giving God a piece of your mind flashed through your thoughts, you have resentment toward God that is hurting your relationship with Him and your spiritual growth.

What do you do if you discover that you’re angry with God?

  1. Realize that you’re not the first believer who has felt that way. Job got a little hot with God near the end of his trial.
  2. Remember that God’s intention is never to aggravate, manipulate, or destroy. If He wanted to make you miserable, He could put you through much more than what you’ve experienced. He is working something beautiful in you. It may even be an answer to a prayer you prayed in the past.
  3. Admit to God that you’re angry at Him. It’s not as if He doesn’t already know. Confession is good for the soul as long as it is with the intent of finding healing and not just to gripe.
  4. Repent and ask God for help. After all, it is the power of His Spirit that allows us to truly release misplaced anger.
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 until you get the victory!
